Fees

Every fee, with what it includes and what it leaves out

Each fee is per person. If two of you attend, each of you pays one. If a lawyer or an employer is paying for one person’s share, we bill that person separately.

  • One session

Three hours with one mediator, for a disagreement with one or two things left to decide.

    • A private 20-minute intake call with each of you
    • Three hours at the table with one mediator
    • A one-page summary of what you settled
    • A formal written agreement
    • Your own lawyer
    Term:
    Flat fee per person
  • Full mediation

    Includes the agreement

Up to three sessions and an agreement you both sign, for separations, partner splits and care plans with several parts.

    • A private 20-minute intake call with each of you
    • Up to three sessions, nine hours in all
    • A written agreement drafted for both of you
    • One round of changes after your lawyers read it
    • Court filing fees
    • Appraisers and other outside experts
    Term:
    Flat fee per person

Court filing fees, each person’s own lawyer and any outside expert are not part of these fees.

How paying works

Your share, your invoice

  • Each of you is billed separately

No one fronts the other’s share. Each of you gets your own invoice for the same amount.

  • You can split it another way

If you both agree in writing, one of you can cover more. We bill what you tell us.

  • Nothing is added without a yes

An outside appraiser or a longer session is quoted first and goes ahead only if both of you approve.

  • A cancelled session is not billed

If either of you cancels at least two working days before, no session fee is due.

Costs this page doesn’t cover

Filing an agreement or a divorce petition with a court has its own fee, set by the court and paid to the court.

If you each want a lawyer to review your agreement, their rates are theirs. Outside appraisers and financial neutrals bill by their own schedule, and we ask both of you before bringing one in.

If a matter turns out to need more than three sessions, we’ll tell you what a fourth would cost before it’s scheduled.

Splitting the bill, and other money questions

Does the first call cost anything?

No. The 20-minute call is how we learn what the disagreement is and whether mediation is the right step. You can end it at any point.

Do we pay if we don’t settle?

You pay for the sessions you attended. The fee covers the mediator’s time, not an agreement.

Can an employer or a relative pay for someone?

Yes, in writing. We still treat each of you as equal participants, and the payer has no say in what is agreed.

Ready to see whether it fits?

The call costs nothing, and we’ll go over the fee that matches your situation.
